After six weeks of daily use across commutes, gym sessions, open-plan offices, and long-haul flights, we can say without hesitation: these are the best earbuds available in 2026 for iPhone users.

The upgrade over the second generation is not incremental — it is a full generational leap driven by the H2 chip. Noise cancellation that used to require a Sony or Bose over-ear headphone is now sitting in a tiny, lightweight earbud.

Noise Cancellation — Best in Class

We tested the AirPods Pro 3 on a London Underground train at rush hour, in a café with a crying child two tables away, and on a Boeing 787. In all three environments, background noise was reduced to a low hum at best and complete silence at worst. The ANC algorithm reacts in real time — when a truck drove past on the street, the earbuds adjusted within milliseconds.

Adaptive Audio is the standout new feature. Rather than forcing you to choose between full ANC and Transparency, the earbuds blend both modes dynamically. When you stop walking and stand still, it leans into ANC. When someone approaches you to speak, it opens up. After two days, you stop thinking about it — it just works.

Sound Quality

The sound signature is balanced and slightly warm — well-suited to podcasts, voice calls, and most music genres. Bass is punchy without being muddy. Treble is detailed without being harsh. If you are an audiophile looking for LDAC hi-res audio, the Sony WF-1000XM6 beats it on technical audio fidelity — but for 90% of listeners, the AirPods Pro 3 sounds better simply because the tuning is more enjoyable.

Spatial Audio with head tracking remains the best-in-class feature for watching films or TV. On Apple TV Plus content, sound moves convincingly as you turn your head. No Android earbud comes close to replicating this.

Fit and Comfort

Apple ships four ear tip sizes including XS, which solves a longstanding problem for people with small ears. The earbuds sit flush and stable — even during a 5K run they did not shift. The case is the same compact oval design with MagSafe charging, which means any iPhone charger or Apple Watch puck will top it up.

What We Did Not Like

Critically: if you have an Android phone, the full feature set is not available. Spatial Audio, Adaptive Audio, Automatic Device Switching, and the iOS Health integrations all require an iPhone. Android users should buy the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro or Sony WF-1000XM6 instead.

The AirPods Pro 3 are the right choice for iPhone users who commute daily, work in noisy environments, or travel frequently. At $249 — down from $299 at launch — they have hit an accessible price point for premium earbuds. If you are already in the Apple ecosystem, this is an easy recommendation.
